Manager
Terms of Employment: Full-time position
(40 hour work week)

Position Summary & Scope
Accountable to the Executive Director to provide support and leadership in
the areas of policy, professional development, employee benefits, recruitment,
employment legislation, labour and employee relations and health and safety and
training development.
Qualifications
Education
- Post Secondary diploma/degree or certificated from an accredited college
or university in Human Resources Management or related studies
- CHRP designation or progression towards is required
- Training certificate in Health and Safety or willingness to be
certified
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- A minimum of three years relevant and progressive experience in human
resources or organizational management; experience within a Not-for-Profit
is preferred
- Proficiency in MS Office applications including MS Word, MS PowerPoint
and MS Excel
- Professional competencies and solid working knowledge of Employment
Standards Act, Occupational Health and Safety, Ontario Human Rights Code,
Labour Relations Act and Employment Equity
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in the French language is an asset
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is an asset
Duties and Responsibilities
Human Resources:
- Responsible for leading the full HR cycle from recruitment to exit
interview working in conjunction with senior management.
- Provides management with guidance in the areas of staff management,
supervision and performance management up to terminations.
- Plays an integral role in the Staff Relations Committee to ensure open
and transparent communication with staff.
- Participates in disciplinary process including workplace investigations
and terminations meetings while ensuring that all legal requirements have
been met.
- Responsible for occupational health and safety and worker’s compensation
- Overseeing compensation, benefits, attendance support and performance
management systems.
- Develop, maintain and introduce organizational policies and procedures
and ensure adherence throughout the organization.
- Participates in regional meetings and community task forces as
requested.
- Manages the administrative portion of the Volunteer Program.
Office Management:
- Works in conjunction with senior management and program managers in the
area of Staff Training. In particular, there will be a role within the new
employee orientation process, particularly in ensuring all staff members are
up to date regarding mandatory training including First Aid, CPR, CPI. This
may include setting up the training, preparing the teaching materials and
issuing completion certificates.
- Works in conjunction with our Financial Controller in the area of
payroll and payables. This is a potential area for expansion for the HR
Office Manager.
- Works in conjunction with our Director of Operations and Client Care in
the area of Staff Schedules.
- Works in conjunction with the Executive Director in relation to
receipting donations and ensuring prompt replies to donors.
- Assists with both internal and external Communications ranging from our
On-line Communication Book to our external Web-site and quarterly
newsletters.
- Organizes agency events with support from management and the
administrative assistant.
- Develops and maintains promotional materials including brochures, trade
displays, business cards, etc.
- Responsible for ordering supplies for the organization in conjunction
with Senior Management.
Hours: 8:00am – 4:30pm Monday through
Friday
Compensation: Salary Range: $24.00 -
$27.00/hour
